Well hello everyone I made the LONG flight here. We left KCI at 8:30 in the morning and I finished my 4th and final flight at Fukuoka Airport about roughly 6 in the morning KS time or 8 pm here you do the math on that one all I know is it was a REALLY long time and I watched like the same 2 episodes of CSI like 4 times and the manchurian canadiate like 3.

Japan is really cool though the TV is just hilarious the commericals are really cool as well. The cuisine is really good so far, though I haven:t hit the sushi bars yet most. The architecture is really cool here everything is multi tiered. There are ramps and stairs all over outside, so you end up entering buildings on all sorts of different levels. The dorm they have us is in a bit primative but it isn:t that bad. though the whole having to a coin machine to activate the AC kind of sucks, also the building has no hot water so I had a cold shower this morning, and wow that will wake you up in the morning. However I discovered the international house next door has hot showers and a large japanese style bath for relaxation and meditation so I’m looking forward to that. Sorry about all this bad grammer but the keyboard is quite a bit different and the keys are in different places so everyone will just have to deal. well thats all for now i will try and get in and make post at least every other day or so. so till next time have fall y’all

Well I leave monday at 8 in the morning for Japan. Sorry its been so long since my last blog. but then everyone knows I have a problem with being on time. The gig at dave’s was a blast nothing like having someone right next to ya imitating you, and playing air bass while jumpin around. It was just an all around fun time.

The last week has been really busy. I’ve been doing fraternity activities pretty much every day last week. Friday we had initiation and 3 new brothers were added to our order. They are great guys and will do great things in the future i’m sure. I also got to see some brothers who had not been around in quite awhile so it was quite a bit of fun.

Sis is living in my apt now and will be taking care of it while I’m away. It been going pretty well. It looks like she’s going to get a job at bestbuy. More good deals for me. yeah! If your in topeka feel free to stop by and say hi to her cause she will probably be bored since she doesn’t know to many people here.

Anyway its just about time to head out of the country. It’s going to be a blast seeing the shrines and all the ancient building and artwork. I’m going to be taking photos constantly. Hopefully my credit cards hold out cause I will prob will be buying quite a bit of stuff to bring back. The food is going to be quite good too I’m sure, but then I like sushi anyway so ya know.

Well take care everyone and my next blog will be from the land of the rising sun hopefully if I can find some internet access.

You know I have had a wild week. I played three shows in a row Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I haven’t played in months prior to that. Only Aaron Traffas would do something like that to me. You know, I am pretty sure that Aaron has lost his mind. I haven’t seen him in a while, does anyone know if he sleeps??? Also I have three finals this week, damn this has to stop. Anyway, it seems as though the music I am playing now is extremely popular. This is very strange because I am still not sure what the hell it is??????? I need someone to explain this to me. RED DIRT COUNTRY MUSIC, what the hell is this monster that has been roaming behind my back for the past decade. This is also my first blog ever, and I’m pretty sure that I am just going to ramble about random stuff from this point forward. Back to RED DIRT COUNTRY, I need to know what the hell this is if I am going to go on playing this wonderful music!!! As a drummer there are many other styles of music that I enjoy playing, but RED DIRT COUNTRY, really allows me to have fun with what I am playing. I can be a real jackass while i’m on stage, sorry Aaron, you are really going to have to watch me. We played Dave’s on Friday, what in the hell happened I don’t know. I found out we were playing there around 6pm………on the interstate…………2 hours before we set up to play…………………….Normally this would have been a hell of a poor show with no one around to see it, but only in Kiowa, KS can someone pull together a show as good as we had that night. Thanks to everyone who came out……..I had a blast! But anyway, someone needs to teach a course on red dirt country because I am just not sure about it. I love it, its fun, a little boring in places (just for the drummer), but a lot of fun none the less. I feel as though sometimes I am doing a little too much…??? by the way, when your done reading this go check out http://www.retrojunk.com/ and http://www.engrish.com/ if you haven’t already seen them. Laugh your ass off, garauntee! MP

Right.

Trail Ride was tough. We sounded great, but they were heckling us for pop country and, for some reason, couldn’t understand the differentiation between alt-country and pop-country. The way the light rig was set up, all I could see was a blinding light and blackness, so I couldn’t tell if people were dancing or booing.

Mason and I played Harbour Lights. It wasn’t as empty as the last show; in fact, there were 300% more people there. For those of you keeping score at home, there were 4 people listening. It worked well, though, and I’m now confident that we can play a duo show anywhere. It looks like Mason will be playing with me at Bobby T’s on 2 June.

I just pulled the injectors out of my diesel pickup. I’ve been wanting to do it for months, but it took those months to get Snap-On to get me the $46 special socket with which to do it. Anyone want to buy a slightly used, 30mm Bosch injector socket?

Had a magnificant time at Dave’s
He wants us back as soon as we can
Back in July
Might be playing in Alava, too
Sooner than you think

Trail Ride

Long time, no log, and all that stuff.

Last Thursday Josh Quillan proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of the Wade Bowen show and we got it on audio, video, and stills. Thanks to Josh for demonstrating that the comments module is working on the site.

In other news, check out the new Power9 website.

Looking forward to the Trial Ride this weekend. It’s a show that my father used to play. We’ve played it several times, with Emotional Feedback, Pavement Ends, Trevor Burgess Band, and now we’re playing it with the Aaron Traffas Band. Time for a scrimmage.

I’ll be playing at Bobby T’s tomorrow night and in Hays at the Rail on Friday. Both shows will be acoustic, loud, solo, rock shows.

There’s a new Internet radio station that everyone should check out. They’re running over six hours of music and they just put me in rotation.

For anyone looking for something to do tonight, Wade Bowen is playing at Longhorn’s tonight. Don’t drink too much; you’ll need your energy for Bobby T’s tomorrow.

The look of the download page has been modified and I’ve added the demos from the Pfeifer recording sessions. I’ll hopefully be adding some more stuff soon so check back soon.

You’ll hear from me.

I’ve been wanting to get into the Kansas City area again for quite sometime. There’s this cool bar on a hill in Tonganoxie that finally called me yesterday. They wanted June and I had to tell them no. The one month I take off is the one in which they want me to play. Sounds like we’ll work something out for July, though.

Wade Bowen is playing at Longhorn’s on Wednesday, and Blaine Younger and I both have the night off. Better look out.
