So G tells me it’s a retarded cat, not a blind cat. I’d have corrected myself sooner, but I just can’t write anymore. I’ve been keeping up with Trevor’s audioblog. You should check it out.

I’m headed to Jim’s funeral. I mean wedding. G and I are playing tonight with Shades of Grey at Neighbars. I was thrown out of there, once, with the Mad Cows. I haven’t been back. We’ll see how loud we can get tonight.

Thanks to everyone who came out Wednesday to the show at Duffy’s Thanks to Daffy for reminding me about the Irish drinking songs that Josh gave me a few…many years ago.

Rock me mamma like a candy cane.

Booked

This week is looking busy. Shows Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday along with a major assignment due Tuesday, etc, etc. Then, on Saturday I plan to checkout Dorfus Cracktractor down at Mike’s in Medicine Lodge. See you all around somewhere I hope.

Party tonight at 523 Bertrand in Manhattan. Promises to be a good time. The patio will be rockin!

Till then,

Well it was a so-so Easter

Saw his shadow
Now we have 40 more days of Lent

We played a band show Saturday night at Buster’s. Thanks to everyone who came. I appreciate Dusty sitting in with us. I think we may just have to keep him around for a while. You know, if we hire enough people, I can just run sound.

This week brings another practice with Chuck, auctions Thursday in Manhattan and Saturday in Hutchinson, a bachelor party in Hays Saturday night, and a show in Lawrence on Sunday.

What do you think of the new website?
Tell me at aaron@aarontraffas.com

See you there this Saturday. We will be en route to Barber County shortly. g

April 22nd

Two important conflicting events on April 22nd

My roomies are having a birthday party for me that evening at 523 Bertrand. If you read this blog, you are invited.

The Counting Crows are playing live in Kansas City Kansas????? It is true friends. The band that has not toured for quite sometime now is making an appearance at the grand opening of some mall in KCK by the speedway.

There are your choices. Personally, if it wasn’t my birthday party, I would go see the Counting Crows.

CMT?

Alright, so I have to be honest with everyone. I listen to heavy metal…………….. WOW ……..that feels good to get off my chest. No one would have known, I know, but it’s my vice. Among many others. By the way there’s a new beer available in Kansas and I’ve been waiting for a good year or two for it to get here. It is called "Sol" and you can only get it in Kansas in 32 oz. bottles……… ………damn……..I guess that means you have to drink more!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to play this Buster’s show, it’ll be my first…………and amazingly it’ll be my first time in Buster’s………HMMM. Anyway, drink some of the "Sol" and be joyful that you still have your sense of taste. Here’s a music selection for everyone to check out. William Elliot Whitmore, the guy rocks ass……….I saw him when he opened up for Clutch here in Lawrence. See you all at Buster’s on Saturday!

I’m out….

Exercise

Up at 615 this morning to take a little walk. While I was putting my shoes on I actually remembered that I needed stamps so I figured I would just walk to the post office, buy stamps, and come home. The air was crisp and clean and the streets and houses were tranquil. There is a certain magic about being up before anyone else in the morning. A feeling of accomplishment.

Finally I reached the post office and made my way inside the lobby. I started to put my two dollars in the stamp machine when I realized there didn’t really seem to be a slot the size of a dollar bill. Strange I thought to myself before reading "ATM and CREDIT CARDS ONLY." Well that sucks but at least I am out walking this morning and started back home.

I no more than stepped out of the post office when it hit me. I paused and looked around and thought that this can’t be happening. It was and I was eight blocks from home.

Nature called and called as I gently made my way back the eight blocks to home. Open garages were stamped and sealed invitations to come inside and take care of business but I resisted.

Five blocks to go I pass a truck with the keys in it and the windows down but remembered the song "Shot Full of Holes" just in time and pressed onward.

Four blocks left and some smart ass kids had TP’d a house. Never had the sight of toilet paper looked so good.

By this time my walking had slowed to an awkward looking crawl with several pauses per block. I prayed not to see anyone.

Three blocks left and another alley full of opportunities. Open garage doors and a peculiarly white, toilet shaped cardboard box. Just a couple more blocks…

At this point a van full of people started circling me. I must have looked quite out of place because I wasn’t really exercising and might not have appeared to be on a mission to get somewhere. They drove by six times. Probably trying to get my description perfected for the police on the cell phone.

"This guys looks lost officer. He is just wandering the neighborhood and keeps looking intently at houses and cars. I smell trouble"

One block to go and the pressure seems to increase with each step. Like a dog salivating over a juicy steak in an owner’s hands. It was worse now the house was in sight. My mind raced as I rounded the front of the house and gingerly ascended the front steps.

There is that damn van again. What is their problem. By this point I was sure they had spotted me and were certain I was trouble.

I stepped in the door. I had made it home.

Turns out the exercise had worked some different areas of my body than I had planned.

Totally Stoked

Hey this is just a quick shout out to everyone that claims to be a music fan. You know where I will be on Monday night? Better be the same place you are–watching the CMT Music Awards like the dedicated music fans you/we claim to be.

The ATB (Aaron Traffas Band) is having a watch party for the CMT’s. Aaron has rented the 6th Street Ballroom and a huge projection screen operation from New York so we can all see the glamour and glitz of some of America’s best musicians.

I am bringing the food and when I say that I am bringing the food, I mean it! We are having Outback Steakhouse cater the event and everyone will be supplied with steak dinner, choice of potatoes, and all the fixings you would expect.

Mason is in charge of the free alcohol and evidently has rented a beer truck to carry the motherlode from Lawrence to Manhattan. Something about 45 kegs and more hard stuff than two liquor stores can hold.

Chuck is in charge of the ladies and he has promised several sororities worth to be headed down for the party. Can’t wait to see that.

I am giddy with excitement for the party but the real show will be on the huge 75ft by 95 ft screen. It will be incredible to see Tim McGraw in larger than life. I bet we could even count his facial hair if the camera does a close up.

Oh and I am so excited for this year’s host. Bring on the "you might be a redneck" jokes Mr. Foxworthy. I am voting Jeff Foxworthy for president of the USA as soon as I get a chance. Hail to the frickin chief of comedy to run the show.

Of course the ladies of country music will be looking large and in charge on Aaron’s HUGE screen. Can’t wait to see what Gretchen Wilson will be wearing. She rocks my world…little country girl. YEEEOOOWW!

Yeeehaaw til Monday

Only seven days late on April Fools…
