Sobriety

Boland was incredible last night at Horn’s as was the Wayne Hubbard Band. WHB plays again tonight for 5 bucks or something. Very much worth it if you are around these parts.

JB’s battle with alcohol and drugs has been well documented throughout the fanbase of red dirt country. Friends have written songs about him "After All" by Ragweed and the band canceled part of their tour last year so Jason could catch a breath and kick his demons. Apparently, based on his sobriety last night and the level of kick ass show they put on, he is clean.

Had a good time with Spud and Dick Withers at the show. Sold them my extra tickets for face value–18 each. Could have sold them at the bar for 100 each. Hmmm. Maybe next time.

The band is sure looking forward to Bobby T’s tomorrow night. Our local street team has gone above and beyond the call of duty to get people there. Thanks to you all.

Till then, g

Well, I finally did it………bought a new kit last weekend. Aaron, G and I went over to KC to pick it up. I bought a 3 year old Pearl Export Series 6 pc, it is beautiful. Anyway, all is well in the land of me………just wanted to update everyone on the new kit.

Going to the Family Values Tour tonight……….kinda makes me feel like I’m 16 again, anyway, free tickets and I wouldn’t mind seeing the Deftones………..Bla to Korn though.

See you all out at Bobby T’s this weekend!

Here I sit loading Counter Strike.
I’m getting ready to go to Phillipsburg for an auction.
I’ll have to drive a Chevy.
I’m having a new clutch put in my truck.
Nothing like a $1000 repair after spending the same on new equipment.

Put a grill guard on last week
Got another 6"
Ready to gobble some deer this fall

It’s been a long weekend. We missed Dusty at Duffy’s in Lawrence. We saw someone get into a brawl. He had something like 30 staples in his head the next day by the time we woke up at 1:00pm.

I just finished watching the Comedy Central roast of William Shatner.

G passed out on the couch. I guess he didn’t have on Star Trek underwear.

The website keeps moving along. We bought some new equipment this weekend. Faster, stronger, better.

My clutch is going out again.

Back in touch

At least as much as a 28 year old born again college student could be…

coffee in the morning
diet coke after 4

Anyone out there oughtta come check out the open jam at Duffy’s tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Sounds like the entire ATB will be on hand.

Manhattan is being bombarded with signs of life this week. My roommates woke up to some half naked guy beating on the door this morning at 4am. He said his truck got washed away in the thunderstorm.

This, kids, is why we don’t smoke crack.

Case and point.

Down after a relaxing weekend
Wayne and I went out and painted Aggieville with Sam and friends on Friday night
I think she called us "weak" when we left for Bob’s Diner
G and Cherie and I went to Lawrence
Met up with Mason, Bobbie, Kim, and Randy at the Arthur Dodge and the Horsefeathers show
They made up some story when we got back about stopping to eat
I just watched a documentary about Lucero
They rock. I’d like them more if I could understand the words.

This weekend marks a turning point. It’s the end of aarontraffas.com. We’re moving forward with the new site and changes are quickly being made. I personally like the corn picture at the footer of the website. Check out the new show details page. If you select satellite view and zoom in, you can see the cars in the parking lot of the place we play. The layout still sucks, but the geeks at Chivalrous Productions tell me it will be fixed this year.

Barber County

I miss G
I hope he didn’t fall off a mountain in Colorado

Getting ready to hit the ‘ville with Won
I’m glad he’s back from the wild west

Way out.

Like I have to drive 20 miles down a frickin mountain in order to get cell phone or internet services.

Beautiful thing.

Reposted today

THANKS to everyone that came out to PJ’s tonight. The Navigators out of NYC were very cool guys and incredible players to boot.

Aaron and I got to experience several new songs together onstage tonight. All apologies.

Peak of white.

We played Guitar Town for the first time since March or something ridiculous like that. I hosed it.

White goodness.

We played some new songs and some old but we did get a good response from the crowd. That was cool since due to the lack of ear monitors we were thrown off for a bit

God bless the color whtie.

Thanks to Tyler Gregory for a compelling set. Too bad you missed Folksinger’s Defense, it might have been written for you. Next time.

Like missing a home-made film, the white was blinding.

RIP to Aaron’s accoustic bass guitar. I think that thing can officially be shot to the moon. Love playing it at home by myself but it proved to be a liability tonight. Thanks to the soundman for trying to fix it. Not your fault. Jimi Hendrix feedback is only cool when you are playing an electric.

Thanks ultimately to Dot and PJ’s. The Navigators were a world class group out of NYC and only a few people in this town have a clue. Of course I might sound like a self promoting SOB for dogging on the people of Manhattan for missing this band but they were good. We played after them. We would have gladly yielded the stage and let them rock more if people would have been there.

Is the art of live music dying? That is the question. More to come on this topic but tonight was another case and point.

Delicious whiteness.

Finally because this is getting long and late, check out the new Lucero CD when you get a chance. These guys are from Nashville but anything but. Damn good band and their latest CD could very well be there best effort.

If you get a chance, ask Aaron why he no longer has an eyelash.

Too bad your mom reads this Aaron.

ps–shout out to Chris CD Deines. That guy came out the other night and we had a fab time. He should come to Manhattan more often. I thought I was hard on Aaron. Man. That guy is brutal.

Get your rears to Buster’s on Saturday. We should sound decent and it will be cool to hear Anthony Farrar. If you are staying in the NE KS area, get to Duffy’s for Mason’s band Guse.

Till then,
G

Liked the Navigators
Saw them at PJ’s
Played after they did
I’ve never seen the headliner not play last
We were closers
I felt like a pitcher, throwing strikes
G threw the split-fingered bass balls
Couldn’t hear a thing, even with the side fills
Never going without ear monitors again
Floor wedges are for n00bs, Dusty.

I’m getting ready to pack up for Buster’s. We’ve hired a couple noobs to help work the auction in Lincoln tomorrow in my stead. I’ve been watching Deadwood every waking minute I’m not at work. I sure haven’t been posting web logs, that much is certain.

We’ll be playing with Anthony Farrar at Buster’s tomorrow. Better look up.
