Pictures are posted in the images section from the last three shows.

Anyone else see a striking resemblance?

Aaron and Elvis

In other news, some friends from work had a little fun with some coworkers and me for the Purple Wave Christmas party. For the love of God, do not follow this link.

word on the street is we did a satisfactory job at RC McGraws this Saturday. The whole shindig was a solid set up - plenty of drink, gold-plated chicken strips, beautiful ladies…it was as though Busta and Colonel Sanders teamed up for a music video. I’ve purchased a larger stocking this year - hopefully Santa drops a Martin in it. If not, I’ll introduce lyme-laden ticks into the reindeer population. I don’t mind playing dirty.

Ok, so I’m still hung up on Charlie Wilson’s War. I’m so excited.

Winding down at another Purple Wave Christmas. It was a very good one this year. 70+ people in the middle of the war zone that is the renovation on the new Purple Dome. It already feels like home and they don’t even have all the walls put up yet or the offices built. It’s going to be a great year. I look forward to next.

One trick pony

There is a very interesting article on Slashdot today saying that non-competes are the DRM of human capital. I never really considered how non-competes stifle innovation. Like a song made invaluable with DRM to any device other than that which it was meant for, a non-compete discourages progress by locking a person into, or out of, a specific career. I didn’t know that California doesn’t enforce non-competes, as the article attributes some of the success of Silicon Valley with this progressive, innovation-encouraging policy (if it’s true). I guess when I quit alternative country, I’ll have to dig ditches rather than play screamo.

Is anyone else excited about the new Sorkin flick coming out on 21 December?

Here’s stuff. Digg it.

Refreshing

A lot like the lime-lemony flavor of 7-Up, the new at site is a welcome change from Red Dirt Rushmore, a single malt influenced photoshop job of the ATB.

It is so nice to see some hot blogging action from Aaron and Lucas! Nice work fellas. I bet the Hays show was awesome. Wasn’t that supposed to be Friday? I am still confused about that a little.

It sure was nice to see the crowd at Mike’s Sports Bar the other day. A lot of people drove down from Pratt in shaky conditions and it was a good time. If you haven’t seen Rob Spectre’s youtube of the evening, it should give you an idea.

Figured this would be a good week to post several blogs leading up to the show. Can’t wait to play with Mason-Dixon again and see if we can find the groove that we had back in….May! Might be an interesting, like a Nascar race, show. How many people really watch that crap to see the cars go in laps?

Gotta bounce,

All hail unsecured wi-fi.

We walked in the door and saw well-worked posters from Budweiser heralding the Dec. 1 show of “Aaron Traffas”. No Lucas Maddy mentioned…this is Aaron’s website, so it’s only fair :) I’m excited to play tonite - I believe a fair contingent of Norton-rooted folks may be in the audience, big shout out to Tim Sprigg for promising to come up and play “Battlefield” a break-up, get back together song he and I wrote over Thanksgiving break. The Christmas tree is up and the fireplace is lit…

lock and load.

A Quickie

I sit, dripping wet, attempting to conjure wisdom and philosophy. Aaron, Diane and I leave for Hays, America in 10 minutes, and I just got out of the shower. Haven’t packed a bag, loaded the big fiddle…but I did watch Boston Legal. As a songwriter, I take joy in passing along nuggets that inspire.

At the end of season 2 a cancer-afflicted former love affair returns, unannounced, seemingly cured. He proposes to the apple of his eye, candidly. He had left her before, apparently to die in peace and alone, so as not to subject her to his suffering.

I’m a big fan of people doing great things because they’re living, not because they’re dying. Bonus points to the BL.

I’m out, gotta do my makeup. Roadies will be here soon.
