Proceeds from Saturday's Junefest show will benefit Relay for Life

The details have solidified for Saturday’s Junefest show. The show will start at 8 p.m. at the Peace Treaty Pageant Grounds east of Medicine Lodge on Highway 160, south of the golf course. The tickets – available at the show – will be $5 and will directly benefit Relay for Life.

The show will feature special guest Anthony Farrar. Anthony opened our last show at Mike’s in Medicine Lodge and demonstrated that he’s a very solid performer with some good originals.

On an unrelated matter, as I was investigating the exact layout of the pageant grounds, I checked and was surprised to find that Google Maps is now sporting high resolution satellite imagery of Barber County. I started looking for our fields and as I was panning towards Sharon, I found the following image.

Now I’m not criticizing – I’m sure the farmer (a friend) had good reason for random-looking patterns. He was most likely preventing the dirt from blowing or trying to find a place that wasn’t too wet to work. The point is that no longer is the way we work fields a private matter. Google’s incorporation of this kind of imagery means that our farming habits are now available for all to see.

Hey, folks…this Saturday will be a hell of a show that you can’t afford to miss…Aaron’s going to be doing a combined show with geek rock artist Arturo Got the Shaft. It’ll be Cap’n Rob’s last show in the Barber County, indeed the southern Kansas, area for the foreseeable future. Do not miss this show. Look for things to kick off by 8:00, with Aaron and the Shaft trading the spotlight(s) quite frequently. It’ll be a pretty laid-back party, and the entertainment doesn’t really care about anything but having a good time. It’ll be enjoyable for all…see you there.

“Coffee Grounds” goes on sale this week at the Aaron Traffas show at Mike’s Sports Bar in Medicine Lodge, KS. You get a whopping 10 songs for a meager $5.00. Come on out to a great new establishment for some live entertainment. The party starts at 7:00pm and the first CD will be auctioned off at 8:00pm. Be there.

This is the big weekend, folks. Come spend the final weekend of spring break at Buster’s Saloon in Sun City. A short drive west of Medicine Lodge lies the coldest beer in Kansas, served by the fishbowl. Chivalrous Productions will be there in full force, recording the event for the upcoming live album, “Coffee Grounds”, so come early for some fantastic food and a seat for a great show. The music kicks off at 7:30 with the folk music and bluegrass dinner set. With a few special appearances in store, the party starts at 9:00 with a brand new, overhauled setlist. Tell your
friends and neighbors; if you can hoot and / or holler, you need to be at Buster’s this Saturday night.
